Ing. Miguel Sosa
The 2023 LACCEI Academic Merit Medalist
This year, LACCEI is proud to award Ing. Miguel Sosa with the 2023 Medal of Academic Merit for his long career and his dedication and inspiration to many students and engineers throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
Undergraduate Professor in the area of Physics and Graduate Studies. He began his professional career at the National Atomic Energy Commission in the field of Nuclear Power Plants, having created a university chair in Nuclear Engineering. He served as President of the Federal Council of Engineering Deans of Argentina (CONFEDI) and President of its International and Interinstitutional Relations Commission.
He has been Vice President of the Ibero-American Association of Engineering Teaching Institutions (ASIBEI)
He has also been a member of the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES), and President of the GEDC LATAM. He is also a member of the GEDC, has been President of the Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions (LACCEI), and currently Associate Vice President Director of the Summit of Engineering Deans of Latin America and the Caribbean (AlyC), creating National and Regional Councils of Deans of Engineering in Central America and the Caribbean en Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala y República Dominicana, and an Open Chair of Technological Development and Transfer for LAC that chair.
He also served as President of the Commission for Teaching, Development, Promotion and Dissemination of Engineering, of the Argentine Center of Engineers of Argentina.
Specialist in Environmental Engineering, Specialist in Energy Economics and Planning, Specialist in Nuclear Power Planning in Developing Countries. He expanded his Studies in Science, Technology and Society; Epistemology and History of Sciences and achieved a Master’s degree in University Teaching and is a Specialist in University Management and Leadership.
He has participated in Science and Technology and Technological Developments evaluation councils.
Categorized researcher has directed various research and consulting projects in the field of pollution and environmental impact, waste treatment, organizational development, clean production, and engineering education, mentor of certification and improvement processes continuous engineering careers, improvement programs, institutional evaluation and accreditation of undergraduate and graduate engineering specializations, member of evaluation committees for graduate careers, institutional evaluation in Science and Technology, chaired Engineering Congresses in Argentina and Latin America , academic committees of international events and publications, management of development organizations, technology parks, sustainable development programs, local development agencies and committees of regional strategic development plans, speaker at conferences, has developed study programs, written books, book chapters and articles, directed master’s degrees and was part of various undergraduate and graduate academic committees. In recent years, its main interest has been engineering training and its various aspects, its articulation with technological development and the transfer of technological knowledge in each social and productive environment in a framework of innovation, in particular forming national and international groups of engineering managers promoting the integration of ALyC.
