Dr. Teofilo Jaime Ramos Gonzalez
Awarded with the LACCEI Academic Merit Medal on 2018
This year LACCEI has awarded Dr. Teofilo Jaime Ramos Gonzalez with the 2018 LACCEI Academic Merit Medal Award for outstanding achievement and impact to Engineering Education in the Americas.
Dr. Teofilo J. Ramos is Director of Latin America and the Caribbean Region and member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Member of the Assembly of the Mexican Engineering Accreditation Agency (CACEI), representing IEEE-Mexico and Emeritus Professor of Tecnologico de Monterrey.
He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
He has worked for Tecnologico de Monterrey for over 40 years, as Chairman of the Electrical Engineering Department, Dean of Engineering and Architecture, Dean of Research and Continuing Education and Dean of Institutional Effectiveness. He was President of the Mexican Association of Schools of Engineering (ANFEI) and in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has served as Vice-president of Educational Activities, Chair of the Committee on Global Accreditation Activities and member of the Awards Board, Fellow Committee, Accreditation Policy Committee, Planning and Review Committee and in the Admission and Advancement Committee.
He has been evaluator in the institutional accreditation systems of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS-USA) and Mexican Federation of Private Universities (FIMPES) and responsible for evaluation and accreditation of all the engineering programs of the Monterrey campus of Tecnológico de Monterrey for the first time in Mexico by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) in 1992.
