
Dr. Adriana Paez Pino

Dr. Adriana Cecilia Páez Pino is an engineer by training, holds a doctoral degree in her field, and is a recognized academic leader in higher education across Colombia and Latin America. Throughout her distinguished career, she has held strategic positions in various universities, where she has made significant contributions to strengthening research, innovation, and the comprehensive education of new generations of professionals.
A steadfast advocate for gender equity, she has been a tireless promoter of women’s leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). As Director of the”Cátedra Abierta Latinoamericana Matilda” and co-editor of Matilda I and Matilda II, she has led numerous initiatives focused on visibility, empowerment, and the development of collaborative networks among female scholars and researchers across the region.
Dr. Páez Pino is widely recognized for her management skills, transformative leadership, and strategic vision, as well as for her deep social sensitivity, which has enabled her to effectively align the university’s mission with the demands of sustainable development.
In recognition of her invaluable contributions to strengthening engineering education and her strong commitment to the values of LACCEI, she has been awarded the LACCEI Medal, an honor reserved for individuals who have had a significant impact on the transformation and advancement of higher engineering education in Latin America and the Caribbean.
