Entry Requirements for Chile

Who should read this: international participants traveling to Santiago, Chile for LACCEI 2026:

Valid document: passport (in some South American countries, national ID is accepted).
Short stay (up to 90 days): enter as Temporary Stay Permit (tourism, business, academic activities; extendable once).
Visa/Pre-authorization: depends on nationality. Since Sept 17, 2025, some countries require prior authorization even for short stays; check with the Chilean consulate or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal (See the PDF below for reference, but consult the official migration page).
Economic means: proof of funds may be requested.
Exit ticket: return or onward flight required.
Accommodation: hotel booking or invitation letter.
Minors: additional documentation and notarized authorization if traveling without both parents.

Special note about Rapa Nui (Easter Island):
If you plan to visit Rapa Nui before or after the conference, you must complete the Unique Entry Form (FUI/IRN) in advance. This does not apply for Santiago.

Health measures:
Currently, there are no extraordinary health requirements for tourists. Seasonal measures (e.g., masks in health facilities during winter) may apply. We recommend traveling with health insurance.
