Abstract
This research examines the relationship between innovative activities and product and process innovation in Paraguayan companies. It is a quantitative, cross-sectional design. It uses data from the Paraguayan national innovation survey, with 555 companies. The results show that product innovation is positively related to internal research and development and the acquisition of machinery and equipment, the acquisition of hardware, the acquisition of off-grid technology, engineering and industrial design, while process innovation is positively related to the acquisition of machinery and equipment, engineering and industrial design, and staff training. This research has theoretical implications because it shows market-based strategies in developing R&D and technology acquisition to achieve product innovation, and strategies based on technology acquisition and staff training to achieve process innovation. The research has practical implications for business managers and administrators and for designers of public policies to support businesses.
