Artificial Intelligence in the Design and Evaluation of International Sales Contracts: Evidence from Honduran SMEs, 2025 (#920)

Abstract

Abstract– This research was conducted with the purpose of identifying the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the design and evaluation of international sales contracts, as well as in alternative dispute resolution methods (ADR). It was carried out in the context of Honduran micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in 2025, which engage in both domestic and international trade operations. A quantitative, non-experimental, correlational methodological design was employed, using a 30-question survey validated by expert judgment and applied to a sample of 77 participants from key areas such as management, information technology, procurement, and legal advisory. The Cronbach’s alpha was .0952, which is considered an acceptable reliability indicator. The results show a positive relationship between international contracts and ADR (rs = .596**), along with statistical dependence according to the Chi-square test. However, 95% (73) of respondents reported not using AI to design or evaluate contracts and their respective clauses, although they acknowledged that other companies might be doing so. The Binomial proportion test in IBM SPSS version 27 confirmed that this difference is statistically significant (p < .001). Therefore, although AI adoption is limited or its use remains very low, its future incorporation could strengthen legal certainty and the confidence of Honduran MSEs engaged in international trade operations.
