Abstract
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are among the most frequent problems in sports, compromising knee stability and causing prolonged periods of inactivity. This type of injury is highly prevalent in high-impact sports, affecting both professional athletes and young trainees. Postoperative rehabilitation of these injuries requires structured processes that combine safety, repeatability, and progressive rehabilitation, elements that can be enhanced through the incorporation of automated assistance systems. In this context, this research proposes the design and simulation of an automated pneumatic device for postoperative knee rehabilitation, using pneumatic artificial muscles (PAMs) as the main actuators. These components are suitable for their ability to generate smooth and elastic movements, emulating the physiological behavior of human muscles and promoting the system's ergonomics.
