Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of writing skills on the production of texts considering the moments before and after the application of the experimental program in university students of the School of Fishing Engineering. This applied research of quasi-experimental design involved two groups: 22 first-year students (experimental group) and 22 ninth-cycle students (control group). The instruments used were: test of knowledge of grammatical spelling rules and writing (G´omez, 2020), text production test (Dioses, 2003), experimental intervention program in writing skills (Bellodas, 2022) and rubric (Bellodas, 2022). The results evidenced that writing skills generate a significant effect on the communicative intention, thematic unity, coherence, cohesion, punctual spelling and writing dimensions of text production. The study concluded that writing skills generate a significant effect on text production comparing the moments before (pretest) and after (posttest) the application of the experimental program in university students of the School of Fishing Engineering.
