Abstract
The purpose of this research is to optimize the mechanical properties of concrete for sidewalks by partially replacing cement with recycled granular rubber (CGR) in proportions of 1%, 3%, and 5%, following ASTM and NTP standards. Workability (Slump) and compressive strength tests were conducted on specimens measuring 0.10 m in diameter and 0.20 m in height, which were evaluated at 7, 14, and 28 days under water curing. The results revealed that CGR decreases the workability of concrete but remains within the permissible limits established by the standards. Additionally, it enhances compressive strength at 1% and 3% replacement levels, while at 5%, the strength was lower than that of the control concrete. Furthermore, the use of CGR led to a moderate cost reduction, offering an economically and environmentally sustainable solution for urban applications.
