Abstract
This research examines the interrelation between social, economic, and environmental factors in Peruvian mining exports from 2007-2022. Data on mining exports, socio-environmental conflicts, mining investment, and sector GDP were analyzed using a multiple linear regression model. The results reveal three main findings: (1) there is a strong correlation between the studied variables (R² = 0.967, p < 0.001), where socioeconomic factors exert greater influence than direct investments; (2) a significant inverse relationship was identified between social conflicts and exports (β = -472.363, p = 0.001), quantifying losses of approximately US$ 472 million for each additional conflict; and (3) a non-significant impact of mining investment was found (β = 0.157, p = 0.581), suggesting a disconnect between investment efforts and export outcomes. These findings underscore the need to develop new social management frameworks, implement more efficient investment mechanisms, and strengthen coordination between public and private actors to optimize the development of the Peruvian mining sector.
