Abstract
At present it is necessary to propose activities that get students engaged throughout their professional training process, and more importantly if such are implemented from the beginning of their educational career. For this reason, the Problem-Based Learning methodology is highly enriching since it allows us to introduce work-related cases to students and, by doing so, they are aware of what they will learn during their professional training. Furthermore, this methodology is implemented through Integrative work that involves courses from three academic areas. This approach results from the coordinated work of General Studies teachers of a private institution in Lima, Peru. The initiative is focused on students who are beginning their professional career, and aim at developing the desired competencies at the completion of every subject involved. In that sense, a review of relevant information related to the proposal was carried out, which shows the advantages of working with both Problem-Based Learning and Integrative Work in order to generate new skills in our students beyond the academic stage. Finally, it is important to mention that these types of activities help students find meaning in their academic training, linking it with their future work field and keeping them engaged in their teaching and learning process.
