Abstract

Network management is a one fields with greater development at present in telecommunications subject by the large number of equipment and infrastructure of different manufacturers that interconnect to operate in business networks, public and private. Therefore, within the training of engineers in this specialty is a mandatory subject of study. However, the acquisition of skills and competences requires activities similar to a real operating environment,  although in controlled environments. This article is about the work done in the Telecommunications Engineering carrer for the development of a laboratory using open source software. This laboratory generates a near real experience in terms of the topic of network management. The results have been satisfactory, more considering that even developed by a student a graduation work applying what studied in a real case on non IT elements but necessary to be manageable in a complete IT infrastructure.
