Abstract

The objective of this article is to evaluate the probability of failure and reliability of the Huaripachi bridge structure through the Global Positioning System technology and the Precise Point Positioning technique. Evaluating the probability of failure (pf) and the reliability index (β) from the information of the semi-static and dynamic displacement of the structure is vital for the safety of the bridges, the displacements were determined by means of moving average and Chebyshev type I methods., while pf and β were evaluated using the deterministic and probabilistic method of statistics. The results of the investigation showed semi-static displacements of 4.96, 5.15 and 25.47 mm in longitudinal, transversal and vertical component respectively, with an absolute error of 2% in the vertical compared to the deterministic value (2.50 cm) of table 1 and the average measured value (2.547 cm), while in the dynamic displacement they reached 2.30, 3.18 and 12.36 mm in longitudinal, transversal and vertical component respectively, he probabilistic evaluation with a confidence level of 94% in the vertical component, the pf and β indicate that the structure is unsafe in the limit of [ -1;1] mm with pf of 51.54 % and with small β, and in the limit of [-5;5] mm the pf is 0.49 %, which is minimal and with β of 4.42, which indicates that the structure it is safer and more reliable.
