Abstract
This present literature review article examines the fundamental importance of usability testing in software development, focusing on the need to create intuitive and easy-to-use products, especially in the context of the rise of mobile devices. The ISO 9241-11 standard is used to define usability, highlighting its scope beyond the visual interface. The methodology used for its development is based on asking research questions that explore the importance of usability testing, its benefits, the relationship with the success of the project and current trends. The review highlights the broad definition of usability, the relevance of evaluation methods such as user tests, questionnaires and heuristic evaluations, as well as the direct connection between usability and project success, among the main conclusions supported by the study on the vital importance of usability testing in software development as well as the application of effective evaluation methods and understanding their direct impact on the success of projects.
