Abstract
This research aimed to determine the relationships of the sources of knowledge with sustainable-oriented innovation (products and processes). It is a study with a quantitative, non-experimental and cross-sectional design. The sample was obtained from the national survey of innovation activities in Ecuador in 2015. The econometric model used was the Bivariate Probit regression. The results show that internal R&D and customer knowledge is related to product innovation in these companies, while external R&D and suppliers are related to process innovation. This study contributes to the academic literature by providing evidence on under-researched sustainability-oriented innovation in developing countries and has practical implications for business managers and policy makers seeking to generate policy for companies to move towards innovation. sustainable oriented.
