Abstract
In the San Juan de Lurigancho district, located in Lima, there is evidence of inadequate solid waste management. Just non-household waste generates 151,659.57 t/year, where 46% comes from the markets, which is significant. Therefore, the objective of this study is to make a proposal for solid waste management plan for the minimization of waste from the Mercado Modelo Santa María, in such a way that it is possible to reduce the negative impacts generated by the waste accumulation. To obtain this, a diagnosis was made that included a survey and a reconnaissance visit to know the situational context of the solid waste management of the establishment. Then, a bibliographic theoretical foundations review of scientific articles related to the research topic was developed. Finally, 3 programs were designed to improve solid waste management in the establishment: Education and environmental awareness program for the business and administrative community, Adaptation Program and endowment of the collection center and, finally, the Solid Waste Disposal Program.
