Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of the outreach project carried out in the Quality Management Systems Class for the Industrial and Systems engineering faculty of Unitec University Honduras, which consists in the design of a process and procedures handbook for MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) companies, NGOs (Non-Governmental Organization), and government institutions. Understanding the impact of the use of the handbook in the mentioned organizations, possible obstacles to its use, as well as the potential benefits that these companies have obtained with the use of the handbook. Data was collected by applying an electronic survey to 26 representatives of companies in which students created the handbook in the academic periods occurring between 2019, 2020 and 2021. The results obtained showed that 61.51% of the companies partially used the manual, 11.54% presently use it, and 28.08% do not use the manual at all. The results also show that the companies obtained important benefits, they show the reasons why some didn’t use it, and some suggestions.
