The problem should be contextualized in the location where the students coexist (university, house, community, etc). No experience with IoT is needed since we will provide resources to help you get started. You can also use other<a href=\"https:\/\/thingspeak.com\/channels\/public\"> public channels<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/help\/thingspeak\/collect-data-in-a-new-channel.html?requestedDomain=\">create your own<\/a>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thingspeak.com\/channels\/12397\">Weather Station<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thingspeak.com\/channels\/38629\">Traffic Monitor in Route 9<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thingspeak.com\/channels\/29633\">Solar Water Heater<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thingspeak.com\/channels\/276330\">Soil Monitor<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thingspeak.com\/channels\/102698\">Outdoor Air Quality<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thingspeak.com\/channels\/1207176\">Indoor Air Quality<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thingspeak.com\/channels\/9\">Temperature Data<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thingspeak.com\/channels\/1160823\/\">Solar Powered Battery Monitoring with Prediction<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Task<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In this challenge, we invite you to help advance a critical research issue in the fields of medicine or environment, using IoT systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prizes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First place: 500 USD (For LACCEI members only)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Second place: 300 USD (For LACCEI members only)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Third place: 200 USD (For LACCEI members only)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For LACCEI non members, MathWorks will deliver merchandise and LACCEI a certification<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Official Rules<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proposal, video, documentation, and application should be presented in English.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Groups of 3 or 4 students with 1 mentor (professor or researcher)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students and mentor can only be in one group<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Estimated graduation date for the students should be after July 2024<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The solution must be able to be replicated step by step.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The code must be in a repository with access to the jury.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation cost: FREE.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to compete<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The group must send the proposal before the deadline using the following web form:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/v1KAWzXL9SG9NG1G9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0070d8\" class=\"has-inline-color\">https:\/\/forms.gle\/v1KAWzXL9SG9NG1G9<\/mark><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, a jury will evaluate the viability of the proposal in the next 15 days. Over the course of those 15 days, all participating students must complete the MathWorks interactive course training (will be announced in January 2024) and the online workshop with MathWorks experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the proposal is approved, the group will start the second phase of the hackathon called \u201cdevelopment of the solution\u201d together with the submission of the video (the requirements will be sent in March 2024) and the oral presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rubric<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The points to be evaluated are distributed as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.
