Abstract
The study evaluates the competitiveness of the Honduran forestry sector through an economic and statistical analysis of the period 2013-2023. Using macroeconomic and innovative performance indicators, it examines the behavior of sectoral growth, its contribution to GDP and the evolution of the trade balance. The results show a progressive loss of competitive capacity, evidenced in the reduction of the trade surplus at the international level and the low participation of the sector in the gross domestic product. Regression analysis identified a positive relationship between innovation and sectoral performance (up to 2020), which reinforces the hypothesis that low innovation limits the sustainable growth of the sector. It is concluded that policy implementation has an impact on the sector's business performance. It is recommended to deepen the knowledge of the "Territorial Capital" of the forestry sector for the strategic implementation of sectoral policies.
