Abstract

One of the main challenges in quality management in Latin America is the effective implementation of standardized systems, with ISO 9001 being a key tool for improving the competitiveness and sustainability of organizations. Therefore, a systematic literature review was conducted to analyze the impact of ISO 9001 on strengthening quality management systems (QMS) in companies in the region, identifying benefits, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. This research analyzed 29 studies obtained from databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and SciELO, using rigorous selection criteria and tools such as PRISMA to ensure process quality. The findings revealed that 65% of the publications were scientific articles, while 35% included case studies and theoretical reviews. It is concluded that ISO 9001 is essential for professionalizing quality management in Latin America, but its effectiveness depends on comprehensive implementation, senior management commitment, and public policies that promote certification.
