Abstract
This thesis presents a proposal for the intervention of Kurt Beer Park, located in Piura, based on criteria aligned with sustainable development. Its purpose is to establish design strategies that enhance the park’s functionality, promote environmental sustainability, and increase its value as a public space within the urban fabric. The research stems from the need to transform urban spaces in response to the unregulated expansion of cities, which has led to the reduction of green areas and the degradation of essential ecosystem services. The study emphasizes the importance of adopting approaches that prioritize energy efficiency, responsible use of materials, proper water management, circular economy practices, and green infrastructure. Additionally, it recognizes the crucial role of community participation and ecological connectivity in creating resilient and socially integrated urban environments. Sustainable mobility is also integrated into the proposed model. The analysis carried out revealed that these strategies are feasible for reversing the current deterioration of the park. Key proposals include the incorporation of native vegetation, clean energy technologies, rainwater harvesting systems, and alternative transportation methods. Ultimately, the study concludes that sustainable design enables the recovery of the park and its transformation into an inclusive, resilient, and environmentally balanced space.
