Abstract
Organic cocoa from Morropón is emerging as an agricultural gem capable of transforming Peru's position in the international market, especially in light of growing Mexican demand for sustainable, high-quality products. This applied research sought to identify concrete solutions to optimise the internationalisation of Piuran cocoa. A mixed approach was used, integrating structured surveys of producers and semi-structured interviews with key actors, under a non-experimental, cross-sectional and descriptive design. The sample included 20 producers and 1 export manager from local cooperatives. The results reveal that, although Morropón cocoa is highly valued, logistical challenges, lack of certification and organisational weaknesses persist. It concludes that success in the Mexican market requires strengthening technical and commercial capacities, establishing strategic alliances, and rigorously complying with international regulations. This study offers a roadmap for the sustainable development and global competitiveness of Peruvian cocoa.
