Abstract
This study was carried out in order to apply engineering methodologies and tools in a company in the manufacturing sector, to solve problems such as the incorrect order of machinery and the lack of a culture of order and cleanliness. Two alternative solutions were proposed and evaluated for each problem, selecting the following: Layout Redesign and the 5S Methodology. The simulation of these solutions demonstrated a significant improvement for the company since, in relation to the first problem related to a poor layout, unproductive activities were reduced from 70.69% to 48.5%. On the other hand, compliance with the 5S went from 42% to 76%, demonstrating that the tools were viable. Finally, the economic analysis showed a total benefit of S/ 37,244.09, an IRR of 44%, a NPV of S/ 21,495.06 and a B/C ratio of 2.36.
