The methodological approach was descriptive theoretical, based on bibliographic searches of reliable sources such as MINEM, WITS, NOSIS TRADE and OEC. The results showed that the commercialization for base and precious metals worldwide, between export and import, reached a total of US$ 3.79 trillion and for scrap US$ 109.8 billion; from 2018 to 2020. Finally, it is concluded that the largest number of exports came from China, Germany, Australia, Peru and Chile; while the largest consumer of refined copper was China with 53.6%; likewise, it was the largest consumer of metal scrap with an amount of 1,053 million tons in 2021, this being due to the large number of industries it has.
