Abstract

Urban flooding caused by drainage networks overloaded by heavy rainfall is a recurrent problem in our country. In this sense, the objective of this research work is to analyze the feasibility of installing green roofs to improve rainwater drainage in Jr. Chanchamayo block 14 - Cajamarca, proposing as a viable solution to this problem the use of green roofs to retain a certain percentage of precipitated water and thus contribute to the reduction of peak flows in the drains. The research has a descriptive exploratory scope; it used a non-probabilistic intentional sampling with a sample of 6 houses in the project area and 4 study units. The results allowed estimating a retention capacity of the prototype roofs tested of 40-77% for extensive green roofs and 43-87% for intensive roofs and it was determined that their installation is feasible in the study area, as long as they are extensive modular green roofs, because the values of the maximum drifts comply with being less than 0.007 value established in the E-030 standard. A direct cost of S/.441.50 per m^2 was obtained, showing after an analysis that it is profitable in the long term.
