Abstract
The research analyzed the association between ergonomic risk and work performance in a census sample of 44 administrative and technical employees from a consulting firm in Lima, Peru. A quantitative, correlational, and non-experimental design was applied, using a Likert-scale questionnaire validated by experts (Aiken’s V = 0.87) with high reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.95). Results showed that both ergonomic risk (M = 101.75) and work performance (M = 68.57) were at a “regular” level. Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed a positive and moderate relationship (r = 0.443; p = 0.002), with significant associations in the dimensions of work organization and mental workload, static postures, musculoskeletal symptoms, and physical environment. These findings suggest that higher performance is associated with greater exposure to ergonomic risks, contrasting with international studies that report reduced productivity under such risks. It is recommended to implement comprehensive ergonomic management models that balance productivity with occupational health.
