Abstract
Urban accessibility and green infrastructure are fundamental components for the development of inclusive and sustainable cities. In this context, the present research aimed to demonstrate how projective strategies of urban accessibility and green infrastructure can contribute to the improvement of the Parque de la Amistad, located in the district of 26 de Octubre in Piura. The study adopted a qualitative approach, descriptive and exploratory in scope, and of applied type, focusing its analysis on the physical conditions, environmental performance, and social perception of the park. The sample consisted of 10 users from the local community, from whom information was collected through direct observation and semi-structured interviews regarding accessibility, connectivity, safety, and vegetation. The results revealed significant deficiencies in physical accessibility, such as deteriorated sidewalks, lack of normative ramps, interrupted pedestrian routes, and limited connectivity with the urban environment. Likewise, the green infrastructure showed insufficient vegetation coverage, low species diversity, and poor maintenance, reducing thermal comfort, ecological performance, and social use of the park. Safety conditions were also identified as heterogeneous, with areas of low illumination and scarce surveillance that negatively affect users’ perception of security. It is concluded that the implementation of projective strategies such as the integration of universal accessibility principles, continuous pedestrian networks, inclusive signage, reforestation with native species, the incorporation of shaded areas, and improved lighting would significantly enhance the functionality, environmental quality, and inclusiveness of the Parque de la Amistad.
