Abstract
The study addresses the challenges in the production of coated tablets in an Ecuadorian pharmaceutical company, focusing on excess consumption of raw materials and defects in production. These issues affect efficiency and increase costs. The research uses the Six Sigma DMAIC methodology to optimize processes and reduce variability, thus improving quality and productivity. Quantitative and qualitative techniques, including brainstorming sessions and cause-and-effect diagrams, were implemented to identify the root causes of problems. The results show high efficiency in the correct cycles, but also reveal variability in production times between months. The measurement phase identified three critical points in the manufacturing process, and control charts were used to evaluate efficiency. Implementing continuous improvements and training staff are essential to maintaining quality and reducing cycle times. This analysis provides a solid basis for developing effective strategies and optimizing the manufacturing process in the pharmaceutical industry.
