EQUITY AND GENDER EQUALITY: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW FROM A MULTISECTORAL PERSPECTIVE IN LATIN AMERICA (#2222)

Abstract

This systematic review analyzes the state of the art on gender equity and equality in Latin America from a multisectoral perspective. Based on the analysis of 37 scientific articles, conceptual differences between equity and equality were identified, emphasizing that equity is associated with corrective justice, while equality refers to equal rights. The study highlights that education, health, and labor are the sectors with the most developed gender policies. However, limitations such as lack of funding, intersectoral articulation, and impact evaluation persist. The review concludes that equity should be seen as the process required to achieve substantive equality in contexts marked by structural inequalities.
