Abstract
Abstract- The objective of the research was to validate the PISCO v2.1 and RAIN4PE satellite precipitation products in the headwaters of the Amazon basin – Mashcón Basin, Peru. Rstudio programming tools and the QGIS Geographic Information System were used. PISCO (Peruvian Interpolated data of the SENAMHI's Climatological and Hydrological Observations) and RAIN4PE satellite products were used. Two ground stations were used, Granaja de Porcón (1999-2015) and Augusto Weberbauer (1981-2015). Rainfall from the Weberbauer and Granja de Porcón ground stations was compared with satellite products. RAIN4PE underestimated rainfall at the Granja de Porcón station and overestimated it at the Weberbauer station. The statistical metrics between PISCO V.2.1 and the Weberbauer station were NSE=0.958, r=0.979), RMSE=10.076, and BIAS=-0.0066). Meanwhile, PISCO V.2.1 and Granja de Porcón had NSE=0.928, r=0.976), RMSE= 26.788, and BIAS=-0.125).
