Abstract
This research arose from the problem and deficiency in the evaluation of artisanal bricks in order to determine compressive strength and uniformity in the manufacture of artisanal bricks, taking the Chulucanas brick factory as a reference as the supplier of the samples. For this purpose, laboratory tests were carried out on 5 specimens of artisanal bricks for testing in a uniaxial press with the capping included to ensure the uniform distribution of loads and to be able to calculate the compressive strength. This research has quantitative, non-experimental criteria for the evaluation of these results, where it was found that none of the samples obtained met the minimum ranges of dimensions corresponding to 8%, 6% and 4% for length, width and height respectively. In the compression resistance tests it was observed that the minimum requirements were met in 4 of the samples for type 1 brick but the remaining one failed having a resistance of 47.89 kg/cm2 without meeting the minimum standard of 50 kg/cm2. From this it is concluded that the artisanal brick factories still do not have control over the production process for the uniformity of the materials, which affects the performance of the same having a very high standard deviation of the results.
