Abstract

The prevalence of roads in poor condition violates safety and affects the comfort of drivers and pedestrians on their daily journeys. Therefore, in this research article, the influencing factors are determined during the self-repair process of the flexible pavement in Jiron Arguedas using mechanomutable asphalt material, in the Villa Maria del Triunfo district, compared to traditional asphalt mixture designs. It presents a quantitative approach, obtaining the results in numerical values through experimental tests with the study of its behavior at scale. From one of the results obtained, it can be highlighted that the interior heat conservation capacity of the samples is 0.28%. increased by 99.07% and that of 0.90% by 39.81% compared to that of 0% steel wool, of the three samples the one that presented a better level of self-repair is the one that had a average percentage of steel wool, allowing the tar to maintain its thermoplastic property for longer, filling its cracks, and when it is no longer exposed to heat it solidifies again, completing its self-repair cycle. It was concluded that the mechanomutable asphalt material can contribute to the reduction of road maintenance periods required by traditional flexible pavements through its self-healing property. This contribution to the development of self-healing pavements will not only improve its durability, but will also promote a safer and more efficient road environment for all users.
