Abstract
Sustainability in software development has become an imperative to mitigate the carbon footprint of the technology sector. This article examines the environmental impact of software, from conception to implementation and day-to-day use, and highlights key practices such as algorithmic efficiency, energy awareness, and data minimization. In addition, it explores innovative strategies such as green computing, green coding, and cloud optimization, which seek to transform software development into a more sustainable practice. Finally, the key role of developers and users in adopting responsible practices to build a more efficient and environmentally friendly digital ecosystem is highlighted.
