Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on reducing environmental pollution in the field of civil engineering. With a growing focus on sustainability and environmental protection, AI offers innovative methods to decrease resource usage, waste generation, and pollution in construction and urban development. The study examines various applications of AI, such as resource optimization, waste reduction, energy efficiency, smart infrastructure, and real-time environmental pollution monitoring. Through advanced algorithms, AI can process large volumes of data to predict material wear and plan preventive maintenance, minimizing the need for frequent replacements. Key findings indicate that AI promotes sustainability by improving material use, optimizing recycling processes, and reducing energy consumption in buildings and infrastructure. For example, AI can automatically adjust HVAC systems in buildings to maximize energy efficiency by considering occupancy and weather conditions. Additionally, it enables precise monitoring and forecasting of pollution, facilitating timely interventions. Despite its potential, the widespread implementation of AI faces significant challenges such as high costs, lack of standardized data, and resistance to technological adoption. The study concludes that despite these challenges, AI has great potential to foster environmentally sustainable practices, and overcoming these barriers will be crucial for its broader adoption in civil engineering.
