Abstract

The main objective of the study was to evaluate the level of efficiency of a jewelry and precious metals production line. According to this detailed analysis, proposals for improvements were made focused on the efficiency of the production process and, in this way, being able to substantially improve the downtime of the machines and the operators involved in the process. The work presents a robust theoretical framework with the necessary knowledge to better understand the various tools and methodologies that will be used for the analysis and proposal for improvement. The methodology used includes a detailed analysis of current processes, the identification of bottlenecks and the implementation of the Lean tools. The TPM tool has been used to ensure proper and continuous maintenance of machines, reducing downtime and improving equipment life. Kanban cards have been implemented to manage and control the workflow, guaranteeing an adequate supply of necessary materials and components at the right time. The main indicator evaluated is the general efficiency of the machining area, measured before and after the implementation of the improvement model. The results obtained show a significant increase in efficiency levels, reflected in the reduction of cycle times, increased production and decreased operating costs. This study highlights the effectiveness of Lean tools in improving processes within the jewelry industry and its potential application in other manufacturing sectors. The result was a significant increase in efficiency from 48.9% to 67% with the sand simulation.
