Abstract
This work deals with the design and implementation of a D-STATCOM prototype, designed to compensate the power factor to an optimal value. Initially, the design was based on previous research and to improve its performance additional functions were introduced. Control strategies were designed, tested and implemented. The results of the connection to the power line at full load were tested. Finally, the results demonstrate the relationship between increasing the inverter stage of the prototype above the power line, obtaining a variable capacitor that adjusts the power factor.
