Abstract
The objective of this research is to reduce the distances and transportation times of the production process of desk calendars in a printing plant, using the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) methodology. This methodology analyzes the transportation routes in a process, and by assessing the intensity of the relationships between workstations, a sketch is developed that allows the reorganization of the distribution of the work area, allowing the correction of chaotic routes (spaghetti phenomenon), which hide unnecessary transport that does not add value. In the study it was possible to go from a chaotic route that the operators made between work stations, to a more organized one that could be visualized through the route diagram, likewise through the process flow diagram (PFD) there was a decrease in the distance from 92.7 meters to 35.5 meters, 38% improvement over the initial situation, and a decrease in the time of completion of each calendar of 157 seconds, which allowed to increase production by 4.7 calendars per batch
