Abstract

The objective of this work was to determine the effects of the SikaCem plasticizing additive in concrete with a 15% decrease in water, by analyzing its properties in fresh and hardened state and comparing them with normal concrete. Initially, the selection of our raw materials (fine and coarse aggregate) was carried out, which were subjected to tests of granulometry, moisture content, absorption, specific and unit weight, in order to subsequently design the concrete mix. After that, we carried out the tests according to the standards that will be mentioned in a later chapter. As a result, the incorporation of plasticizing additive generates an increase in mechanical properties such as compressive strength by 23.49% by the destructive method and in the sclerometry test it increases by 16.11%. Likewise, we can indicate that concrete with plasticizing additive reaches a temperature of 1.5 ° C less than normal concrete. In the case of the percentage of voids, the samples with plasticizing additive obtained a lower value, this being 1.66% less, and in absorption after immersion in water and after immersion and boiling, lower values than those obtained in normal concrete. The workability increased in the concrete with plasticizing additive when performing the Slump test, which gave us a higher value than in normal concrete. It was concluded that the plasticizing additive decreases the absorption capacity, the amount of voids, the temperature, but increases the workability and the compressive strength.
