Abstract
The purpose of this project is the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools in the Manufacturing Technology Laboratory at the Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar to improve order, safety, and space efficiency. The tools to be implemented include VSM, 5S, Kanban, Visual Management, TPM, and SMED, which will address issues such as disorganization, accumulation of unnecessary equipment, safety risks, and inadequate signage. Founded in 2010, the laboratory plays a key role in the practices undertaken by engineering students, allowing them to develop skills in aluminum part manufacturing and practices related to their various fields of study. The implementation of Lean methodologies will directly benefit students, teachers and the laboratory supervisor by creating a safe and organized environment and extending the useful life of the equipment used in the laboratory. Additionally, these implementations will serve as a foundation for future projects applicable to other university laboratories, contributing to the promotion of a culture of continuous improvement and fostering a pleasant and safe academic environment for those participating in practices. The project is the result of the Capstone Project or final year project of the engineering program.
