Abstract
It is inevitable that every university student sets goals and manages their resources in the best way to achieve their set objectives; along this path, it is important to analyze how the factors included in these variables are linked and interrelated. Therefore, the main objective of the research was to know the relationship between achievement motivation and self-regulation of learning in engineering students from the city of Lima, Peru. The research followed quantitative, correlational, non-experimental cross-sectional methodology and the final sample was made up of 257 university students from engineering careers. According to the findings, the relationship between achievement motivation and self-regulation of learning is positive, high and significant (r = .523, p < .00); likewise, positive correlations have been reported between the dimensions of the variables. It has been observed that older students have higher scores in both variables, the same happens with women and with students who study and work at the same time. Finally, systems engineering students stand out for presenting higher scores than their peers from other careers.
