Abstract

Currently, digital platforms and especially social networks as a means of virtual communication in its different typologies that are presented, go beyond the computer security system, thereby causing certain consequences in users; in that sense, this research aims to determine "how the use of social networks influences the commission of the crime of homicide" because the use of social networks as a means of open communication in recent times have increased dramatically in aspects of access, information and confidentiality. In this sense, the methodology used is qualitative, basic, descriptive, and explanatory, the data obtained have been collected through literature review and analysis of these, from primary and secondary sources; the databases used in the search for information were Scopus, Scielo and Dialnet; for this purpose, OR and AND operators have been used. From the studies collected and analyzed it can be determined that the use of social networks significantly influences the behavior of people in the commission of the crime of homicide, especially Facebook as it is the network most used by criminal organizations because they are a source of open information containing material with sexual, violent, aggressive content and in some cases with acts of cruelty.
