Abstract

The production of solid waste is a relevant problem today; Millions of tons are generated annually that do not have an adequate final disposal, causing negative impacts that affect the environment and human health. Environmental awareness is considered a pillar that must be adopted to reduce this impact and that must be applied at school. The objective of this research is to determine if there is a relationship between environmental awareness and solid waste management in secondary school students. A 30-question questionnaire was used on a sample of 125 secondary school students; Subsequently, the results were organized in Excel and sent to the IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0 program for analysis. Resulting in the questionnaires having a high level of reliability, and that they can be applied to students. Furthermore, most of the dimensions of environmental awareness are related to the solid waste management variable and a medium level is presented in the two study variables. Finally, it is concluded that there is a relationship between environmental awareness and solid waste management.
