Abstract

The main objective of this article was to propose an improvement in the supply process of a distribution center for mass consumption products, for which a reference CEDI located in the province of El Oro was taken, from which data were obtained. the data and the analysis of the initial situation was carried out through the use of tools such as the SWOT analysis and the Ishikawa diagram or cause and effect diagram, which allowed establishing the main problem and its causes, thus having sufficient information to improve in the aspects that affect the supply processes of this distribution center, enhancing its strengths and taking advantage of the opportunities to complement this proposal. For this investigation, three specific objectives were proposed, which were met thanks to the use of logistics and Industrial Engineering techniques and tools. A time study was carried out, which allowed us to know how long the loading and unloading processes took in the main warehouse of the distribution center, thus finding a standard time that allows us to have both the loading speed and the speed of delivery as an initial reference. discharge, in a certain number of established units. To improve storage management, it was necessary to make a layout of the distribution center that allows knowing the location of the main warehouse within the company, the layout of the main warehouse was also made, where some necessary adaptations were proposed for the correct flow of activities involved in the supply processes, which was facilitated with a route diagram that allowed monitoring of the merchandise from the moment it leaves the cargo vehicle, passes through the warehouse and leaves for another cargo vehicle. Finally, a staff training plan was proposed that allows them to know the new proposed improvements and how the assigned tasks will be after their implementation, in order to avoid risks and accidents at work, as well as obstacles or bottlenecks in the processes that were intervened in this proposal that concludes with this investigation.
