Abstract

The community service project focused on addressing the lack of awareness regarding the efficient use of electricity in households and institutions through education in energy efficiency and renewable energies for students in school educational units. The main objective was to raise awareness among young people about the importance of energy efficiency so that they could transmit this knowledge to their families. To achieve this, a training-of-trainers methodology was developed, where human resources and didactic materials were analyzed for theoretical and practical training. Numerous games and dynamics were incorporated to technically explain the operation of equipment related to renewable energies and energy efficiency. Additionally, quizzes were designed to assess the retention of the imparted information. These playful activities not only made learning more enjoyable but also provided an effective tool for measuring the level of understanding achieved by the students and fostering practical and participatory learning in the world of renewable energies Data collection was based on initial and final evaluations, collection of electricity consumption sheets, and direct observations during classes. The intervention included the delivery of theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as motivation to change energy consumption habits and learn about renewable technologies for future application The results were notable, with a significant improvement in students' understanding of energy efficiency, evidenced by a positive change in their consumption patterns. The most important conclusion was that, through education and awareness, a tangible impact was achieved on the behavior of students, who not only applied the acquired knowledge but also influenced their families, generating a positive change in the community in terms of more efficient energy consumption. This project demonstrates the effectiveness of direct training in building more sustainable and aware communities regarding the importance of energy efficiency
