Abstract
The implementation of an analysis protocol for defibrillators is crucial to ensure the safety and availability of these vital devices in case of an emergency. The aim of the project was to develop an analysis protocol for the Biomedical department of the University Hospital (HEU) of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, following established regulations for electrical safety and analysis of defibrillators. The development of this protocol began with a literature review and expert advice. A questionnaire was applied to assess the knowledge of the Biomedical department at the University Hospital. Subsequently, an analysis tool was developed through an extensive review of regulations. The 17 defibrillators owned by the University Hospital were then analyzed. Finally, the analysis data was entered into the previously selected platform. The University Hospital's defibrillators were found to be in good condition, but most of the failures found were due to user’s errors and lack of knowledge about the care that should be taken with this medical equipment.
