Abstract
The present contribution investigates the relationship between professional ethics and work performance in a public institution in Piura. This relational study considered 108 servers, two instruments were used for the analysis of the two variables, ethics was evaluated through the survey technique and the other variable with the 90 degree technique. The results revealed that 46.3% of workers practice professional ethics at a partial level, while 53.7% do so at a total level. In addition, it was observed that the conduct of the public servant, the code of ethics and the functional principles and duties are significantly related to job performance, with a significance value of p<0.05. Compared to previous studies, consistency was found in the importance of work ethics to improve performance in various contexts and organizational cultures. These conclusions point out the critical importance of cultivating a strong ethical culture to optimize work performance in the institution.
