Abstract

The construction sector is key to the economic and social development of countries; however, it produces debris that damages the environment. For this reason, this article aimed to determine the compression and bending resistance of traditional adobe units. reusing clay brick waste from the demolition of works in Cajamarca. The methodology presented a quantitative approach, with an experimental and application-type design. The population and sample were made up of 80 traditional adobe units with the incorporation of 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% of crushed clay brick waste, respecting what is indicated in the N.T.P. E 0.80. The tests revealed that the pattern adobe showed a compressive strength of 20.95 kg/cm², while the adobes with RCD obtained 22.18 kg/cm², 22.54 kg/cm² and 23.23 kg/cm² respectively. Regarding flexural resistance, the pattern adobe showed resistance to 5.71 kg/cm², while the adobes with RCD reached 6.88 kg/cm², 8.05 kg/cm² and 7.52 kg/cm² respectively. Demonstrating that the adobe with 15% RCD had greater compressive strength and that with 10% RCD had greater flexural strength. This study contributed to sustainable construction.
