Abstract

The use of the Internet has undergone a drastic change in recent times, becoming essential in the lives of many individuals who rely on its stability without reflecting on how it functions. Although the Internet has been a constant presence in our lives for many years, the pandemic caused it to become an essential tool to adapt to new circumstances worldwide. The population of Panama also experienced significant changes and immersed themselves in the online world during the lockdown, recognizing the versatility of the Internet for communication, learning, and work. The number of Internet users in the country continues to rise, driving increased use of social media to maintain social connections. This evolution of Internet usage highlights the need for accessible and reliable connectivity for all, making it crucial to address the digital divide and ensure universal access to promote inclusion and success in the ever-advancing digital era. This article explores the constant presence of Internet access in our lives over the years, emphasizing how it has become essential to adapt to extraordinary situations like the pandemic. The analysis examines the notable changes experienced by the population of Panama during that period and how they engaged in the online environment provided by the Internet.
