Abstract

In recent years, the construction industry has adopted in its processes methodologies such as Lean Construction (Lean) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) with the aim of improving efficiency and productivity aspects. Many studies have been conducted to investigate the benefits of integrated application. Therefore, this Systematic Literature Review aims to determine the effects of integrating Lean methodologies with BIM on the efficiency of construction projects and to provide detailed information on results. Because these approaches have coincidental ideas, it is believed that various benefits can be obtained if used jointly. For this purpose, 463 original studies from the Scopus and Web of Science databases were identified, 35 of which met the selection criteria. The results indicated that in the integration Lean and BIM improves the efficiency of construction projects by increasing labor productivity, reducing the cost of the total budget and reducing delivery times, mainly in the design and execution phases. Finally, it is concluded that, Lean and BIM integration generally produce synergies. However, few studies have investigated model designs, prototypes and software.
