Abstract

This paper deals with the design and implementation of a D-STATCOM prototype. It was designed in order to compensate the power factor to an optimal value. Initially, the design was base on previous research and to improve its operation aditional functions was introduced. The control strategies was design, tested and implemented. The results of the connection to the electrical power line at full load was test. Finally, the results demonstrate the relationship between the increase of the inverter stage of the prototype above the electrical power line, obtaining a variable capacitor thus adjusting the power factor.
